Tropical Plants

Summary- There are 16,192 different plants that live in Arizona today.Which I think is a really good number for a state that rarely has rainfall. If Arizona had more rain this would be the perfect place to have plants. One of the interesting plants i found was the Evening Primrose , which is its common name, but its real name is Oenothera . Here are some facts about the plant.
  •  This plant has the good side of it. It can be used to help with some medical problems like dry skin, obesity and used as an anti inflammatory which is really interesting.
  • Also this plant contains vitamin F
  • Native to North and South America
  • The common names are Evening primrose, sun cups, sun drops.
  • Size varies from 10cm to 3m tall.
The plants environment here in phoenix and in the tropical jungles are slightly different. This plant will most likely live longer in the jungle because it gets sun rainfall and is in its own habitat. Now in Phoenix its hot and that's all it is and the plant needs water to live which we don't always have for the plant.
The next plant that i found was the Bromeliad . The Bromeliad belongs to the family called Bromeliaceae , which also can have at least 3000 species. Some facts about the Bromeliad are
  • They can survive indoors and in the outdoors.
  • They live in cool climates or the Tropics.
  • Most of these plants are used for food and has some vitamins and a source of fiber added to them.
  • The Bromeliads colors are Bright Red, Orange, Purple, and Blue. Hundreds of them can also grow on branches of Tropical trees.
There Habitat is native to Neotropics , and they also located one species in Western Africa. The Bromeliad is kind of like its own little ecosystem animals and insects could live in them for their entire lives.
The Bromeliad can tolerate heat up to 70 to 75 degrees during the day and at night they can tolerate 60 to 65 degrees. If the leaves are stiffer that means they can tolerate more cold. This plant does well in humidity. They also require a good air circulation, they will grow more.
Here are some pics of the characteristics of Bromeliads.
